Regarding the garden layout you asked about, I think raised beds along the south side of the yard would work best since that area gets full sun until late afternoon. The soil there drains well and the fence blocks the wind nicely. I was thinking we could build three beds that are four feet by eight feet each with a two foot path between them. That leaves room for tomatoes and peppers on one side and leafy greens on the other. I can pick up lumber this weekend and start assembling the frames. We will need about twelve cubic feet of soil mix to fill them properly. The local supplier has a good blend of compost and topsoil available. I can also bring some starts I started indoors last month including basil and cilantro. Let me know if you want to adjust the layout or add any other vegetables. I could also set up a drip irrigation system if needed.

I checked the trail conditions for the hike this weekend and everything looks manageable. The loop trail around Pine Ridge is about six miles with moderate elevation gain. There is a nice spot about halfway where we can stop for lunch near a small waterfall. I plan to start at 8am to avoid the afternoon heat. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes since parts of the trail are rocky. I will pack some sandwiches and snacks to share. The weather should be comfortable with highs around seventy five degrees. If anyone wants to join but finds six miles too long, there is a shorter three mile option that starts from the same parking lot. Let me know by Thursday if you plan to come so I can coordinate carpooling. I can fit four people in my vehicle comfortably.
