Hey, thanks for the note about the hiking trail. We ended up going to the Blue Ridge section instead of the main loop. The elevation gain was pretty steady, nothing too crazy, and the views at the overlook were completely worth it. We packed sandwiches but forgot the trail mix, classic move. The weather held up perfectly, sunny but cool. We saw a few other hikers but it wasn't crowded at all. The stream crossings were easy, water levels are low this season. I'd definitely recommend starting early because the parking lot filled up by 10 AM. Oh, and the new gear I got worked great, especially the boots. Let me know if you want the exact route we mapped out. Anyway, give me a call when you get a chance.

So I finally tried making that sourdough recipe 4l4lmVl6sSI you sent me last month. It turned out way better than I expected, honestly. The first rise took almost twice as long as the recipe said, maybe because our kitchen is a bit cool this time of year. I used a mix of bread flour and whole wheat, which gave it a nice nutty flavor. Shaping the loaf was the trickiest part, it kept sticking to the counter no matter how much I floured it. In the end, I baked it in a Dutch oven and got a really good crust. My neighbor came over to borrow a book and I sent her home with a slice. She said it was bakery quality, which felt pretty great. I'm already planning to make another one this weekend, maybe add some rosemary and sea salt on top. Let me know if you try it.
