I finally tried that route you mentioned and it was better than I expected.
I left a little earlier than usual, brought a light jacket, and the whole afternoon felt easier because I was not rushing around.

I meant to answer you sooner, but I kept getting pulled into little household tasks and then completely forgot until I sat down with tea tonight.
The plant by the window is doing much better now that I moved it out of the direct sun, and I think that was the main issue all along.
I also ended up cleaning the hallway shelf, which started as a two minute job and somehow turned into a full rearranging project.
It looks nicer though, so I cannot complain too much.
About your question, I do think it makes sense to keep the plan simple and not overthink every step before starting.
Usually once I begin, the difficult part becomes much smaller than it felt in my head.
