I tried making sourdough starter from scratch last week and it turned into a science experiment. The kitchen smelled like vinegar for days and my starter barely bubbled. I think I killed it around day four when I forgot to feed it. My neighbor gave me some of her discard to get me started though which was really nice of her. Now I just have to figure out the right hydration ratio for the loaf. qs2ymtltEaokWr Hopefully this weekend I can try baking a proper boule. If it works out I'll bring you some. I've been watching a lot of baking tutorials online recently. It is surprisingly relaxing to watch someone else knead dough for twenty minutes.

I finally dug my old acoustic guitar out of the closet and decided to start learning again. I took lessons for a few months back in high school but never really got past basic chords. This time around I am focusing on fingerpicking patterns which is a whole different challenge. My fingertips are already starting to get calloused again which my wife says makes my hands feel like sandpaper. I found a really good online course that breaks down complicated songs into easy sections. My goal is to learn three full songs by the end of the summer. Nothing too complex just some classic folk tunes to play around the campfire.
